In December 2025, “An Action Research Study on Changes in Chinese Character Learning Strategies among English-Speaking Absolute Beginners,” co-authored by Qian Liu and Jing Chai, was published in Volume 2 of Chinese Language and Chinese Language Teaching.
The study asks whether teachers truly notice the personal strategies learners build through sketching, sound associations, and lived experience. For I Got One, publication is not a final stamp of approval; it is an invitation for other educators to examine, question, and redesign what began in the classroom.
Publication moved the project from experience-sharing toward examinable action research, bringing learners’ real character-learning strategies into a wider academic conversation in international Chinese education.
