DKU Language and Culture Center Conference 2025
Conference Presentation & Poster Presentation
Two members of the I Got One team—Jing Chai (Principal Investigator) and Qian Liu (Co-Investigator)—were invited to present at the 2025 Duke Kunshan University Language and Culture Center Conference, an influential gathering of language educators from across China and beyond. DKU, another leading member of the S9 Sino-Foreign Universities of China, provided a dynamic platform for cross-linguistic exchange and pedagogical exploration.
The conference brought together educators of diverse languages, highlighting shared challenges and innovations across the field. Jing Chai delivered a session titled From Complexity to Creativity: Global Perspectives on Chinese Character Learning Through Intercultural Insights, which explored how international students’ reinterpretations of Chinese characters can serve as powerful tools for engagement and empathy in language learning.
Qian Liu, meanwhile, presented a poster session titled Leveraging Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Approaches in Chinese Language Teaching: A Case Study of the I Got One Intercultural Salons. Her presentation spotlighted the project’s CEL framework, illustrating how language learning can be deepened through authentic, community-based interactions.
Together, the two presentations offered complementary lenses into the I Got One methodology: intercultural creativity on one side, and community-rooted practice on the other. The ideas resonated deeply with conference attendees, sparking vibrant conversations among educators of all language backgrounds about how to make language learning more inclusive, interactive, and imaginative.
