There are three components in this character, the flesh radical indicates it is a part of our body, the second shows that we need it to “go/去” places and the last one looks like a footimprint we leave on the sand when we go places…

It has the moon radical, the “go” character in the middle, and a hook on the right. I think of this character as “the first human to go and step FOOT on the moon.”

It has the flesh radical so you know it is a body part, and 去。So it is the body part you use to GO somewhere.

Imagine that the two outer sides represent your two feet. The middle piece is 去, and you use your two feet to go.

The radical 月 means flesh, and 却 looks like stepping back, so it’s the flesh you use to move — your foot.
