The left part looks like a text, and in a text you put your main argument or REASON inside the middle of the text (inside: looks like the right part).

The KING(王/left component)had a reason to be IN(里/right component)the place he was in.

The left part has 王(wang, king) and the right part has 里(li, inside). I remember the inside meaning of anything is the REASON.

The left part 王 means “king” and the right part 里 means “inside.” So, think of a king inside a castle using REASON and logic to make decisions.

The king on the left is asking where you are and the reason you are not by his side.

The left part is 王(wang, king) and the right part has 里(li, inside). If a king wants to be inside and rule, he needs to have good reason, otherwise people will take him down and kick him out.

I remember this character because I relate it to 里 and it just has the extra component of 王 on the right.

We can remember this from the left radical that means King, and the right side being a character that means “inside,” we can link the two and say that “there is a REASON why a king would stay inside a palace.”

This character reminds me of the 里 of 夜里 (which is the pronunciation), and there should be a three REASONS why 里 is different from 理。
